Heath can seem visually simple until attention shifts to lichen, moss, berry plants, stone and changes in moisture. The daily journal introduces these details without requiring specialist knowledge. Routes are chosen to protect sensitive areas, and guests are asked to follow current local guidance rather than creating informal shortcuts.
A hotel journal that changes with the season
Writers, guides and the garden team contribute short field notes throughout the year. The journal is not presented as scientific monitoring; it is an editorial record of weather, materials, food and observation. Previous editions remain in the library, giving returning guests a way to compare the same landscape across different months.
Staying warm in a low, open landscape
Deep roof edges, wind-protected entrances and low windows create a strong sense of shelter. Rooms use wool, timber and warm stone without turning the heath into decoration. Rock Suites offer more indoor space for slower winter stays, while Moss Cabins create privacy with a short outdoor walk to meals.
